Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

My name is Dana. I was born in Haifa Israel. When I was four we moved to New York. Then I came back to Israel in 2002. Currently I live in Jerusalem.

How did you develop an interest in photography?

I was interested in photography from a very young age. At the age of 11 I was already taking pictures all the time.

What was the first camera you used and what equipment do you prefer to use today?

Back in the day I was using film. As I got older I even developed in a dark room. Then when digital cameras started I made the switch and became obsessed. It was so much easier. And cheaper.

What do you enjoy most about photography?

I realized recently that I am an observer of life more than an active member. I also realized that photography has allowed me to document my life. It’s also just so much fun.

What is your specialty?

A friend once told me years ago that I need to find a niche. I thought about it. But Thank GD things just evolved naturally. I used to do art fairs and exhibits. Then I started doing events and portraits. For a while I was doing mainly Bat Mitzvahs. Now with Corona I have been taking a lot of nature shots and using Instagram and Gurushots.

How would you describe your style?

I would say realistic natural and minimal editing.

Which project have you enjoyed working on the most so far?

One of my favorite projects was when I accompanied a group of students from China around Israel.

Do you work with an assistant photographer?

No. Maybe one day.

What advice would you give an aspiring photographer?

I would say that if you love it then just do it! Nothing will stop you if you love it.

What do you want to achieve with your work and what are your wishes for the future?

I like to show the world the everyday little things they may not have noticed or paid attention to. The world is changing so who knows how my photography will evolve.
