Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

I was born in the Moshav Moledet in the Yezra’el Valley, where I was raised with love for the state of Israel, humanity, and the special connection between nature and Israel, and Israelis and Judaism. My family came to Israel in the late 1930s to establish the country, thus saving themselves from the clutches of the Nazis. The immigration and connection to the land and the construction of a new Jewish home in Israel, made their mark on me, as the first granddaughter of the family born here.

The subject of “the home” and all that it entails engages me throughout my artistic work, with love and compassion for nature so dear to us! Behind each house is a special Jewish and Israeli family. The exterior appearance of the home reflects the inner values of those living in it with their intimate needs. The experiences of the place is beautiful as it is, and the connection to metal, wood, water, and more, are the foundations for my creativity.

In my 20s, I moved to the city of Tel Aviv where I live to this day. Inspired by “The White City” I started my journey to the third dimension – The 3D Experience.

What inspired you to become an artist? What’s your specialty?

As an artist, I specialise in producing three-dimensional images based on intertwining three tools; Photography, sculpturing, and painting. Each picture begins its journey with photographing beautiful and authentic places like the Old City of Jerusalem, Safed, Rosh Pina, and the City of Tel Aviv.

I specialise in “sewing a seamless suit”. Each picture is made up of dozens of pieces that come together for one handmade perfection; numbered and signed. I frame the picture in a high quality box that I design and customise specifically for the product.

How and where do you work?

I have a studio in my home. Before the Corona crisis hit, I worked at art fairs where I made a personal and special connection with my Israeli clients and tourists from the Jewish community, wherever they were from. I participated in various exhibitions such as “Art of the Land” in Tel Aviv – Yafo and in the department of Jewish Studies of the Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem.

Where do you take your inspiration? Are you pursuing any themes?

My source of inspiration were and still are “the” places with a taste of yesteryear. Windows, doorways, doors or entrances in the beautiful places in Israel. The city of Safed, Jerusalem – and especially the Old City, Tel Aviv, and many more.

What is the most indispensable item in your studio?

The most essential item is the special scissors collection that I have used for over 16 years! Among them are surgical grade ones that I have modified for art purposes.

Do you do bespoke work?

I accept bespoke work based on a photo of an entrance, house, or experience that the client wants to document. I take a photo or the client sends me a photo to create a 3D image of it and then I construct it.

What projects are you currently working on?

During the Corona period, I stay in my home town Tel Aviv where I am currently working on creating new images of the Neve Tzedek neighbourhood. I took a day worth of pictures for my new pieces.

What is your favourite item in your current collection?

Each picture reflects a new love. I love especially the “Jerusalem window” – Metallic turquoise window with Star of David, authentic Jerusalem stones that are sculpted around it. A window with the love of Torah studying youth in the heart of the Jewish quarter. I found that it incorporates the essence of love of “Jerusalem”.

How do you know when a piece is finished?

The piece is ready after framing.

What was the first artwork you ever sold?

I sold my first piece to a gallery in Jerusalem.

Which project have you enjoyed working on the most so far?

I enjoyed the process of putting together the exhibition in Jerusalem, as well as building 3D images of the city of Jerusalem.

What do you want to achieve with your work and what are your wishes for the future?

Today, after a journey of about 16 years, I realise that I give my clients a connection to Israel. I rejoice and connect them to themselves through the love of beauty, Jewish tradition and nature. I want to continue to create art, because it is the main fuel of my life. The piece connects me every time to people and place and most of all – the love of humanity.
