My name is Eden Citron born and raised
in Israel. I’m 21 years old and finished my service in the IDF not too long
ago. I’ve been painting and making art since I can remember and I’m about to be
a student in Art School here in Tel Aviv.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.
Hi my name is Eden Citron, I’m a
freelance artist from Israel. I’m about
to start my bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts.
What inspired you to become an artist?
I am an artist. Always was. Always will be.
What is your specialty?
My specialty is mostly illustration.
Especially with watercolors. But I do every kind of art that I’m interested in.
How and where do you work?
I work usually from home. Sometimes I
create my work digitally and sometimes I do it traditionally. (My favorite
method btw).
What is your most indispensable item?
My most indispensable item is
definitely my SAKURA water brush. It’s the best! I can illustrate everything
with it and it’s also great for travel!
Where do you take your inspiration? Are you pursuing
any themes?
I take my inspiration from everyday
situations, music and sometimes I just draw how I feel.
What projects are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on designing
stickers and tattoos. I am also drawing comics.
What are your favourite items in your current
collection?
My teeny-tiny watercolor sketchbook and my Faber Castell pens.
How do you know when a piece is finished?
I don’t think I ever felt like a piece is completely finished. I always feel the urge to add something but sometimes it just ruins everything. So, I mostly stop drawing when I feel that every other detail that I might add won’t flatter the piece.
Some say that “Art is never finished, only abandoned”.
Do you do bespoke work?
YES!
What was the first artwork you ever sold?
A big acrylic mermaid painting!
Which project have you enjoyed working on the most
so far?
A music video that I shot, directed
and edited myself was my favorite project even though it has nothing to do with
illustration or painting.
What do you want to achieve with your work and what
are your wishes for the future?
Imagine that you’re having the most usual day. Your regular daily routine. Nothing out of the ordinary.
And suddenly you see my art. Maybe it will be a music video, or a billboard sign or an illustration in a book that you’re reading.
And all of a sudden you feel horrible, or happy, or sad, or confused or maybe a little turned on…
We’re getting so dull these days… this lack of passion is unforgivable.
I want to get a reaction from people. Make them feel something. Maybe even get them feel inspired.
So this is what I want to achieve. With all of you.
And my wish for the future is to be busy. To work on many different and unusual projects and to reinvent myself in each opportunity I get.
