Alyse Radenovic’s painting captures magnolias in full bloom as seen in daylight. The artist has painted three main branches as well as multiple smaller ones, which are born out of the thicker ones. The majority of magnolias can be seen on the right-hand side of the painting, dominating the foreground. On the left-hand side, we can see less flowers. The petals on this side are spread evenly.
Both the placement, as well as the portrayal, of the various branches and magnolias, add depth to the painting, while also helping in creating an atmospheric perspective. The various branches are bent in different directions and magnolias can be seen in clusters, as well as individually placed. Radenovic creates the illusion of motion, by adding elements of light breaking through the branches, which are also reflecting on the various petals.
The artist has used a, carefully selected, complimenting colour scheme of pinks, reds, whites, golds, blacks, and blues.
In order to create the magnolias, Radenovic has worked with hues of pinks, reds, and whites. By using this colour combination, the artists was able to portray a variety of magnolias, as they appear in nature, as realistically as possible. In using hues of blue and gold, the artist has created both the illusion of daylight, as well as movement throughout the painting. For the branches, Radenovic chose black.
The painting is not symmetrical. However, Alyse Radenovic was successful in creating a delicate harmony in her painting. The asymmetrical balance within the different elements enhances the realistic portrayal of harmony and perfection within nature itself.
Radenovic has successfully captured the movement of magnolias on a beautiful spring day. The painting is delightful and would make the perfect addition to any nature lover’s art collection.
