Meet The Artist: Agi Shani of Art For Wine & UNIQUE by Agi

Agi Shani is a Romanian born American-Israeli artist who is famous for her unique and affordable one of a kind creations. After growing up and studying Product Design in New York, she made Aliyah and now lives in Northern Israel. Her passion is to create one-of-a kind pieces of art for everyone to enjoy. She specialises in handcrafted unique gifts, oversized wine platters, 3D wall hangings, eco – chic jewellery, hand knitted fashion accessories, and artistic Judaic gifts.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

I am a second-generation Holocaust survivor, was born in Romania, raised in New York City, and now live in beautiful northern Israel. Already at an early age, I was more fascinated by shapes, materials and machinery than dolls. To this day, they set off sparks in my imagination to improve and re-combine them into a variety of saleable products in many different categories.Viewing a special scene, I already envisioned a decorative wall hanging that I produced in metals, woods, polymers, glass, and textiles in numerous processes.Most of my creations also need to have at least one purpose/function so I combined the fine art into wine platters to serve as oversized coasters, placemats, trivets, and centrepieces on tables that then convert into wall hangings and decorate your wall, and most of all showcase beauty and functions into a series of perfect hostess gifts.

Why do you do what you do and how did you get started in the first place?

Having visited the international gift show in NY, I felt that I can create a line of products as good or better…and I did!Within 2 months, I was selling my Unique new S shaped frames and clocks collection at the International gift Show.

What is your specialty?

Creating unique affordable, functional art that brings joy and excitement to buyers.

How and where do you work?

In my studio and at workshops which have necessary machinery.

What is the most indispensable item in your studio?

Pencil and paper to draw on.

Where do you take your inspiration? Are you pursuing any themes?

I am inspired by beauty in all things. I create various collections in many categories.

What projects are you currently working on?

3D sculpted Magen David decorative pieces on “S” shaped backgrounds.

What is/are your favourite item/s in your current collection?

The wineplatter: “The Flaming Heart” is a reminder for all to re-ignite our passion for life and all that is dear to us. Embrace forgiveness and gratitude; to be the kind, passionate human being we were born to be. Now is the time to upgrade our thinking, reboot our attitude, and reconfigure our life!

How do you know when a piece is finished?

When it approaches my eclectic unique style.

Do you do bespoke work?

I truly am inspired, enjoy and appreciate beauty in all things. I gladly accept special requests.

What was the first artwork you ever sold?

“S” shaped frames and clocks formed from unique material combinations.

Which project have you enjoyed working on the most so far?

The Art for Wine Collection of artistic wine platters/wall hangings.

What do you want to achieve with your work and what are your wishes for the future?

Designing is passion and food for my soul completed only by the exhilaration of sales of my creations!
