The holidays are a joyous time and should be celebrated with a festive home that best represents your style and sentiment. With this in mind, and after many years of trying to find stylish and contemporary décor for Hanukkah, Peace Love Light was born. Lisa Fero, Founder and Chief of Design of Peace Love Light, began using her background as a buyer and interior designer to create and source décor for Hanukkah in 2017, and since that time has grown Peace Love Light into a full lifestyle brand. Today, the online store, Peace Love Light, carries gifts, holiday decorations, home décor, jewelry, clothing, and wedding collections. Whether you are searching for a Jewish wedding gift, some inspirational jewelry, the perfect table setting for your family’s Seder, or decorations for your home for the festival of lights, you can turn to Peace Love Light for an assortment of items to delight and inspire you, your family, and your guests.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.
Hi, I’m Lisa Fero. I live in Fairfield County, Connecticut (although I’ve held on to my Brooklyn accent!), am married with 7 ½ year old twins, and an 18 year old stepson. I went to college for Fashion Merchandising and then became a buyer for large retail organizations such as Federated Department stores and Fortunoff. I loved the process of product development, having an idea and seeing it come to fruition, and am excited that I am now able to use this passion to help so many people fill a void in their homes! After buying I returned to school where I studied Interior Design and have been fortunate to marry together both of my passions; to create and execute, at Peace Love Light.
What inspired you to start your business?
I’ve always loved decorating my home for the holidays and different seasons and became frustrated that there was a limited selection of merchandise to choose from that fit my style for the Jewish holidays. I felt that if I was frustrated with the selection that others may be as well, and that’s when Peace Love Light began.
How do you source your artists/designers?
Initially I knew that I wanted to provide wall décor, banners, accents, and table top for Hanukkah. I searched for artisans who created items in the style I envisioned and worked with them to design products to fit my vision. Many items we retail are exclusive to Peace Love Light, and we also work with gift shops providing our products to them at wholesale prices.
In addition to our exclusive items, we now also sell items from talented artists who share a similar passion for contemporary Judaica in our shop. We strive to be the source for fresh, stylish decorations, and gifts for modern Jewish living!
How do you decide what makes it on the site?
After a couple of years of working to provide and create, we now better understand our customer’s wants and needs. We love getting emails from our customers and often ask for their opinion which helps to guide our selection. With each item we select for our site, we always stay true to our aesthetic.
What are your favourite materials?
It depends on the category. We have some product that has a rustic, farmhouse look and for that we love to use distressed wood and burlap. Other products have a more modern edge and include metallics which have been popular, such as rose gold and brass.
Do you remember the first item you ever sold?
Yes, a Peace Love Light candle. It was a happy day when we got our first sale!
If you do not carry a specific artist, but a client is looking for a particular item, can you source it for them?
Definitely! We love hearing from customers and are always looking to add to our assortment.
What is your favourite holiday and why?
Honestly, I love all the holidays. Gathering with family and friends is what life is all about. Seeing my children learn about their history and enjoy the customs fills me with joy!
What are your wishes for the future?
I am hoping to make it easy for others to find stylish décor and gifts for Jewish holidays and celebrations. I especially love getting customer testimonials telling me they feel like a kid in a candy store when shopping our site. I feel that we have come full circle and feel proud to be an entrepreneur for a company that I feel so passionate about.
