You do not have to invite a group of people to make welcoming Shabbat on a Friday night special. First and foremost, you do it for yourself. This includes your table décor. You want to use your wedding porcelain? Do it! You do not want to always cook the same traditional dishes but want to focus more on challenging recipes to set the evening apart? Wonderful! If this is what makes you happy then you should go for it.
